Small Victories

A few weeks ago we were at the mall and there were Girl Scouts selling cookies, Callie asked what they were and I explained it and told her grammy and I were Girl Scouts once. From that moment on she wanted to be one. I was beyond afraid that I would have to break my four year olds dreams and tell her she can't be a Girl Scout because she's different. Instead of just assuming I email the Girl Scout council in my area, their reply floored me. They told me if she identifies as a girl and is seen as a girl by her friends and family then she was able to join. Yea, I know it's shocking an email from an organization that didn't make my blood boil. This is huge for us, Girl Scouts was such a huge part of my life and my mom's life that I don't know what I would do if my girls weren't in it. When I sent Jason the text saying our girls could join he was in shock and apparently wanted to go buy seven cases, not boxes, of Girl Scout cookies! It's save to say we value the things our girls are going to learn from this, they'll make friendships that last a life time, have great memories, and so much more. This an exciting new beginning for us and I can't wait until it starts. To all our family and friends, be ready to get harassed by three adorable little girls during cookie season!
