A Barbie for every girl

Recently Barbie has started a campaign to make girls feel better about themselves by making different kinds of Barbies. While I support the fact that they're trying to make girls realize that they don't have to look like Barbie to be labeled as beautiful it worries me that it will just make girls more cautious about their looks. For example Callie pointed out there's no Barbie like her, there's no Barbie that represents a transgender child while her sisters and friends were able to each find a Barbie that represents them she just looked at them and realized she's different yet again-THANKS BARBIE! We never had this issue before, the girls normally play with their dolls happily and never fought because all the dolls were pretty much the same with different hair or a different outfit. Now the game has changed, Callie is realizing that she will never have a doll that looks like her. I'm not faulting Barbie completely, they were listening to parents who said they needed different dolls to teach their girls they're beautiful. I'm faulting the parents who couldn't take a few moments at night and tell their daughter that they're beautiful and relied on a toy company to do their job. I never let a day go by without telling my girls they're beautiful and the boys their handsome. They should never have to question their worth because I'm being lazy, the world is never going to be perfect and they're never going to be loved by every single person and not everyone will find them as beautiful as I do, but I want them to know they are perfect in my eyes. As for the Barbie situation, I'm going to continue to buy my girls dolls but think I'm going to stick to the original ones to avoid fighting and hey Barbie, since you're taking suggestions how about a bald Barbie for the girls fighting cancer?! That would make me love your company even more.
