Mom, do dogs go to Heaven?
It's official, April 20th is the worst day ever. Seriously, a year ago my grandma passed away and then yesterday my other grandma's dog passed away. I know what you're thinking, they aren't comparable but seriously that dog has been in my family longer than my daughter has. She had him for 15 years and he was without a doubt her best friend, dogs seriously take up a big part of our hearts and it's so clear that he did. I always told the dog I hated him, he was very yippy and really only liked my grandma(and occasionally other people if they had food). For whatever reason though, his last few months I began liking him, probably because he lost the will to bark but I really loved watching him waddle and felt so bad when he would limp. He was seriously like any other member of the family, we bought him gifts on holidays, got cards signed from him for my grandma he was truly her baby. It wasn't until I told my five year old daughter he had passed that I realized his life affected us all, she said with tears in her eyes "What happens now?" and I told her he would always be with us, since we are religious I did say God had him now. Then the questions I think all kids ask at one point was asked "Mama, do dogs go to Heaven?". I had to think on that one, there is no proof in the Bible or Book of Mormon that they go to Heaven, but I feel like they do. I told my very upset child, that yes dogs go to Heaven and he was running around up there pain free. Right now we are just hoping and praying that my grandma is okay with out her buddy, our dog has been super sad since the whole thing happened. I know, you are all probably thinking I'm crazy but he really is sad! Dogs pick up on a lot and I think he knows his buddy is gone. So, here's to attempting a new day! A new no death day and please, no one else die on April 20th again!
